The Municipality of Anchorage regulates bicycles and electric bicycles under Anchorage Municipal Code Chapter 9.38. Assembly ordinance AO 2024-51(S) refined the definition of electric bicycle, allowed electric scooters, and expanded access on two-way mixed-use trails and sidewalks.
Overview
Anchorage Municipality follows the Alaska state e-bike statutes, plus any county ordinances listed below. Cities and school districts inside the county may impose additional restrictions on paths, sidewalks and campus property.
