Iowa e-bike regulations
Iowa regulates low-speed electric bicycles under Iowa Code chapter 321, adopting a three-class system (Class 1, 2, 3). Iowa Code § 321.1(36A)
Defines 'low-speed electric bicycle' and establishes Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 designations based on motor engagement (pedal-assist vs. throttle) and maximum assisted speed.

A manufacturer or distributor of low-speed electric bicycles shall apply a label that is permanently affixed in a prominent location to each low-speed electric bicycle. A low-speed electric bicycle shall be manufactured and equipped in compliance with 16 C.F.R. pt. 1512.
